A Vegan Restaurant and Gluten-Free Bakery in Nashville

Allergy friendly
that tastes like
a birthday.

One of the biggest vegan and gluten-free menus in Middle Tennessee, all under one roof in Donelson. Cupcakes, scones, and cookies from a bakery that never sees wheat. Burgers, sandwiches, salads, and lattes from a kitchen that never sees dairy or eggs. Nobody at the table has to order the sad option.

Our Story • Since September 2019

A little sister to Sunflower Cafe, with a bakery of its own

Sunflower Bakehouse opened in September 2019 as the sister restaurant to Sunflower Cafe in Berry Hill. The idea was simple: a place where "allergy friendly" is the whole menu, not a footnote on it.

So the bakery is strictly gluten-free, the kitchen is entirely vegan, and everything from a Mocha Java cupcake to a nutrient-dense salad comes out of the same cheerful old muffler shop on Lebanon Pike.

Fair warning: flavors rotate. What's in the case today may not be there tomorrow, which is a very good reason to grab two.

How a gluten-free bakery stays gluten-free

The bakery never sees wheat

Everything made in the bakery is gluten-free, full stop. No shared mixers, no "made in a facility that also" fine print.

The kitchen is entirely vegan

No dairy, eggs, meat, or honey anywhere in the building. The kitchen offers both wheat and gluten-free bread, and the wheat bread lives in its own containers.

Tell us if it's a severe allergy

Every gluten-free bread order tells the kitchen whether it's a preference or a serious allergy, and the team is trained on cross-contamination and sanitizing their space. Allergens like nuts, soy, and oats are listed on every baked good.

Feeding a crowd? Order by the dozen

1

One dozen minimum

Twelve of the same flavor per item. Cupcakes, cookies, scones, muffins, and focaccia loaves all qualify.

2

One week of notice

The bakery team needs seven days to have the ingredients on hand. Focaccia loaves only need 24 hours.

3

A quick call to confirm

Submit a request or call the bakery. Nothing is locked in until you've talked with a Bakery Manager.

4

Custom frosting colors, usually

Most colors are doable at the bakery's discretion. Cakes aren't on the menu yet, but a tower of cupcakes travels better anyway.
